Youth Programs

StemNola

In 2023, we partnered with NMA, STEMNOLA, and sponsor Ochsner Health to engage over 400 kids in exciting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) activities. The event featured hands-on STEM stations designed to inspire and spark interest in STEM fields, providing an invaluable experience for the youth and creating enthusiasm for future careers in science and technology. Through this collaboration, we aimed to foster curiosity and empower the next generation of innovators.

Mentoring in Medicine. Inc.

In 2024, we partnered with NMA doctors, medical students, and Mentoring in Medicine, Inc. to provide an enriching experience for students ranging from elementary through health professional schools. This activity featured interactive stations where students could engage with established healthcare professionals, gaining hands-on insights into various medical fields. The initiative aimed to inspire and motivate the next generation of healthcare leaders by offering direct exposure to expert knowledge, practical skills, and career opportunities in the healthcare sector.

Making a Difference, One Step at a Time

Each year, during the Annual Convention, we collaborate with the National Medical Association to host our annual Walk a Mile with a Child event, promoting healthy lifestyles and combating childhood obesity. On Saturday, July 29, 2024, in New Orleans, we embraced the vibrant spirit of the city with a lively Second Line Band, keeping the tradition alive with a unique New Orleans flair. Then, on Saturday, August 3, 2024, we brought the event to the bustling streets of New York City, where participants walked in true NYC style, further spreading the message of health and wellness in urban communities. This annual event continues to unite communities in taking meaningful steps toward healthier futures for children across the country.
